Pull Test Results and Procedures
TESTING GUIDELINES
All items were tested under the following conditions to determine if
the wire rope would pull out of the eye.
Test bed is calibrated per ASTM-E4 requirements
Items were tested in such a manner that no side load or twisting motion
was evident
Head speed was 4 to 10 inches per minute
The amount of force applied was less than 3000 pounds per second
Items were then driven into the test bed until the wire rope eye was
approximately 2 inches above ground.
A chain-fall was attached to a load cell and then to the wire rope eye
A steady force was applied until the anchor pulled from the ground
SUMMARY
A quantity of 3 of each size anchor were tested
Model 400 – pulled from the soil with 365 pounds of applied force
Model 680 – pulled from the soil with 1216 pounds of applied force
Model 880 – pulled from the soil with 3187 pounds of applied force
